MobileMe First Impressions (from Apple's Site)
No, this isn't a review, MobileMe isn't available yet, so this is about the demos posted on Apple's site.
So far, unlike .Mac, MobileMe looks like it may be worth $99/year, particularly if it holds on to .Mac features like personal domain names, and sync is better than it has been elswhere. I still have double names from my Palm Treo days.
It's also great that Apple is touting PC compatibilty. The reality is that if you are at a friend's house and need to check something, they are more likely to sit you in front of a PC. PC compatibility is a huge value-add and Apple now exploits that to generate the halo effect.
One major concern, right off the bat is security. I'm not sure I'm OK with having my contacts traveling over the web unencrypted. Notice the missing "S" in https://.
