GoodBye Old Friend

Today was a real sad day for us long-time Macintosh users. Today Apple signals the complete end of support for OS 9 Classic. No more classic applications running on your Intel Mac or any Mac upgraded to OS X 10.5. We knew this was coming. Uncle Steve warned us of this day back in 2002, but who really knew when the end...would really be the end. Well today the other shoe has dropped and it's finally time to say our final good bye's to good ol' Mac OS 9.2.2.

Goodbye Quark 4, farewell Photoshop 5. So long control panels folder and chooser. Nice knowing you Sherlock 2 and Open Transport. There are just some old trusty software packages I loved to run under OS 9... just for old times sake.

Thankfully I have found something that can help take the sting out of losing such a close friend. its called SheepShaver and it allows you to install Mac OS 9 up to 9.04 on your Intel Machine. Now this is emulation and not nearly as glamorous as running OS 9 in Classic from within OS X, but its better than nothing. But with some tinkering and swearing I was able to get it working and now the smile has returned to my face...

What is this "titworking" thing? and is it something you should be sharing with the readers?
