The iPod Announcements

I want my iPhone to be able to control my Keynote presentations just like Steve was doing. How cool was that? In fact, I want to be able to control my Mac. Why not?

---

Still feeling the sting of having paid $100 per month just to be one of the first to have an iPhone. Unfortunatly, it's not quite as fun being one of the first now, because now I have to have that conversation. You know, the "so when did you get you're iPhone."

They ought to do something to soften that. Free AppleCare or free songs or ebooks or something, anything. OK, enough about that.

The ideal situation, at least here in new York would be to have the iPod Touch and a Verizon phone. So much so, that I may dump the AT&T even though I would be paying yet another breached contract fee.

It's interesting that the iPod touch is being distributed world-wide. It probably suggests that Steve didn't feel like the negotiations with cell providers were moving as quickly as he'd like and what better way to show them how much money they would have made. "See, all those sales could have been yours."

The very conspicuous naming of the wireless version of iTunes as iTunes WIFI, so that everybody understands "EDGE can't do this well" and implicitly perhaps that even faster cell networks can't, is another jab at wireless providers. And what about all those "iTunes killers" with WIFI that were announced recently? Yeah, I don't remember who announced them either.

This is an amazing time for Apple. The momentum is incredible. I like that. But I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as if I hadn't been one of the ones that got screwed.

UPDATE:

Well, whad'ya know? Apple is offering a $100 store credit.
